Transforming new medical knowledge into a benefit for vulnerable patients is at the core of SHAPE’s mission. The Heart Attack Eradication Campaign has the potential to save lives by giving primary care physicians and their patients the ability to take advantage of preventative heart attack imagining while encouraging insurance reimbursement. SHAPE hopes to create greater public awareness of the benefits cardiac health screening for the population that is currently unable to afford it. By advocating for increased access to preventative heart scans for individuals whose doctors believe maybe at a high risk of a heart attack we hope to lessen both the human and financial burden of this devastating disease. This conservative approach stems from the SHAPE Guideline and is consistent with studies and expert consensus documents that have been recently published. For a detailed PowerPoint highlighting the most recent scientific evidence supporting the SHAPE approach to prevention click here. Texas Representative Rene Oliveira contacted the authors of the SHAPE Guideline for scientific input on his proposed legislation. On Feb 14th 2007, Valentine's Day, SHAPE Helped Introduce the First Heart Attack Prevention Screening Bill to the Texas Legislature. Click here to read the News Release.
