SHAPE 2005 Pfizer SHAPE-a-thon Orlando, Florida
In the past 100 years cardiovascular disease has been the #1 killer in America. Virtually every family in our country has been touched by heart disease. With over 1 million Americans suffering heart attacks each year, it’s time to show your support for a revolutionary movement to eradicate heart attacks.
One way to show your support is by participating in the 2005 AEHA Pfizer SHAPE-a-thon on Saturday, March 5th in Orlando, FL. This is the first-ever walk/run event to be combined with a public heart attack screening. SHAPE-a-thon will be held in conjunction with the annual conference of the American College of Cardiology (ACC).
This is the start of a new era in promoting preventive cardiology.
The 2005 AEHA Pfizer SHAPE-a-thon includes fun runs of 10K and 5K and walks of 5K and 1K, along with onsite SHAPE screening tests. The event will raise awareness about prevention of heart attack through non-invasive screening to identify those who are most vulnerable to a near future heart attack. The screening includes blood tests and noninvasive cardiovascular imaging.

SHAPE-a-thon is a unique event launched by the Association for Eradication of Heart Attack (AEHA) after its SHAPE initiative. SHAPE stands for Screening for Heart Attack Prevention and Education. The AEHA SHAPE Task Force comprised of world-renowned leaders in cardiology has recently developed the National SHAPE Guidelines (link). The SHAPE guidelines encourage all men age 45 and older and all women age 55 and older to undergo a comprehensive assessment of their vascular health to determine their individual risk of a near future heart attack. Every middle age American should know their risk of having a heart attack in the next 1-5 years.
AEHA is thankful to Pfizer Inc for its support to the establishment of the first SHAPE-a-thon event and proudly presents the title sponsorship of the first SHAPE-a-thon as the 2005 AEHA Pfizer SHAPE-a-thon.
It’s a great opportunity for those involved in the fight against heart attacks – including survivors, friends, family members and the medical community – to show how committed we are to making heart attacks history!
